Definition of First Line Therapy

July 4, 2008 by functionmed

FirstLine Therapy is a TLC program created by Metagenics that can help you improve your health, achieve your health goals, and reduce your health risks. With FirstLine Therapy, you’ll learn simple things you can do every day to take control of your health-such as diet, exercise, stress management, and appropriate nutritional supplementation. Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC) are the first, and possibly the most important therapy doctors can prescribe to treat many chronic health problems. Lifestyle changes are now recommended as the “first line of therapy” for treating chronic illness or reducing the risk of other serious health conditions, such as:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Overweight/Obesity
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • High blood sugar
  • Alzheimer’s disease

Lifestyle choices are also the key to addressing other health concerns and symptoms, such as:

  • Fatigue
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Low sex drive
  • Stress-related symptoms
  • Poor memory or lack of mental clarity
  • And many others

Many of these health problems can be reversed or even treated by adopting a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle starts with knowledge-the knowledge to make informed decisions that impact your health every day. With this program you’ll also get easy ways to track your progress, tips for success, reminders, and other support that will help you achieve your goals.

FirstLine Therapy will help you:

  • Address the underlying cause of common health problems
  • Take control of your health by providing you with the necessary tools
  • Live your life in a way that improves your health
  • Feel good now, and maintain good health for years to come

FirstLine Therapy works because it is based on:

  • The most current scientific research
  • Concepts proven in recent controlled clinical studies
  • More:http://metagenics.com and http://metagenics.com.au

This is a beginning, you will be invited both as an individual and a community to take part in “Community Owned Health” programs in keeping with the “Ottowa Charter” which empowers the community to take responsibility for their health care.

Government health initiatives have failed miserably over the past five decades or more, attested to by the uncontrolled escalation of both killer diseases and chronic illness conditions throught the western world.

Determinants are of course multifactorial, however, it is now well documented that recommended dietary alllowances/intake have played a major role, especially in increases of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, many cancers, and much more.

This blog will share “evidence-based” research, which will enable the individual/community to make an informed decision, which if diligently applied is guaranteed to improve the health of the individual by at least 50% within ninety days.

Expressions of interest in establishing community-based “precinct commitees” to establish, maintain and control healthy lifestyle programs which will be adminstered by appropriately trained individuals to be known as healthy lifetyle coach’s,having due regard to “peer age groups’ etc.

Training will be given to all interested parties gratis online by the Australian Institute for Functional Medicine, a non-profit medical research and health promotion organization established in 1981.

HRT and other female hormonal problems

January 26, 2007 by functionmed

Have you ever wondered why no two women may not respond to prescribed or alternative treatment for menopause, PMS, or other hormonal disorders?

The reason is scientifically proven to be a complex abberation in cellular biochemistry described as Metabolic Subtyping. As a practitioner one has been committed to this form of therapy for about four years with an amazing success rate of better than 90%.of Designed by Chinese professors Gynecology there are at least 3 subtypes and as many as 5 in differing hormonal disorders. Being one of the first two researchers in PMS (1981) I found 3 subtypes the other researcher Dr. Abrahams ( Austin Univ. Texas) discovered 4. However, in western medicine subtyping has not been applied to other hormonal disorders.
